Sysadmin by trade, Linux by choice, recovering Quake addict by history.

I'm Rich — a System Administrator for a Florida school district that runs IT for more than 50,000 students and 10,000 staff. I've been at it for about 18 years, but the obsession started long before the paycheck: in 7th grade a science teacher sat me down in front of a Timex Sinclair 1000, and that was the end of me.
By day it's Windows and Active Directory at district scale. By night I'm strictly a Linux person — Arch on my own machines, ricing window managers, and scripting anything that'll hold still long enough.
The handle? chm0d is a nod to the Unix chmod command, but it started life as my gamer tag back in the Quake 2 / 3 / 4 days. I ran with a clan called BrandX — good enough that DaHanG, one of the best FPS players on the planet, used to frag alongside us. The reflexes have faded; the love of a clean config hasn't.
Whether you're installing your first distro or automating a fleet, the write-ups here are built to scale from beginner to expert. Pull up a terminal and dig in.
